Canada is the second largest country of the world after Russia. Its Area is 99 lac square kilometers. Population is around 35 million. It is divided into 10 provinces and 3 territories. Ottawa is the capital. Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg are the big cities. Canada Occupies most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. Further, its economy is highly diversified. Northern Canada is known for gas and oil exploration, Eastern is known for agriculture, forestry and fishery. The provinces of Ontario and Quebec are known for industries. Canada is world leader in Aerospace, pharmaceuticals, telecommunication and biotechnology. Currency is Canadian dollar. Almost 80% of the population lives within 250 kilometers of border of the U.S. The beauty of Canada lies in its multiculturism. Though the French and the English are more in number, Canada is the land of Immigrants. People around the globe have made Canada their home and contributed to its prosperity.

Technical Institutes and Colleges College-level institutions may also be known as colleges of applied arts and technology, technology institutes. Academic transfers from community colleges to universities are sometimes possible. In Québec, collèges d'enseignement général et professionnel (cégeps) offer two types of program: vocational programs are 3 years, and pre-university programs are 2 years.
There is very little aid available for international students at undergraduate level in the CANADA. However, a few individual private schools may have funds available for particularly able international students.
Enquiries should be addressed to the International Admissions Office at each school to find out if there are funds available.
More assistance is available for postgraduate students, often in the form of teaching or research assistantships.

•IELTS – International English Language Testing System – it is required by all the universities and colleges as a pre requisite. Also Mandatory for visa filing. •TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language – it is also a test of English generally required in USA, though universities accepts it also in Australia. But not acceptable for the Visa Filing. An International student going to CANADA can work 20hrs a week on-campus during semester and full-time during holidays. Part time jobs on campus are easy to get with prior planning and you can earn around $650 a month.
f you work full time during your holidays you can earn around $2000 a month.
The approximate monthly living expenses are about $600/800 (includes accommodation as well as other daily expenses). However, the expenses are different for different people depending on the lifestyles and the location and this is just a rough idea.
The key here is to share apartments/houses so that you save on the utilities, fixed charge portion of phone and to some extent on groceries. |
