GMAT is generally taken by students who aspire to pursue graduate studies in the field of business/management in the United States of America. GMAT is an aptitude test; it checks and measures the intellectual ability of the candidates who aspire to pursue management course in U.S.A. To accomplish this testing task, the test takers have to go through 4 different sections The GMAT test comprises of an overall of 800 marks.
The quantitative and verbal sections have multiple choice questions. The questions judge the test takers reasoning and logical abilities. The issue essay asks for the test takers perspective or opinion on a given topic. Whereas the argument essay checks the test takers ability to reason and argue with respect to the text given as a question.

TEST DURATION: APPROX. 4 HOURS INCLUDING TWO 10 MINUTE BREAKS

SCORE VALIDITY:  5 YEARS

 The GMAT has three sections:

1. ) ANALYTICAL WRITING ASSESSMENT (THE AWA):

• Analysis of an Issue topic ( 30 minutes)
• Analysis of an Argument topic ( 30 minutes)

2.) QUANTITATIVE (MATH) SECTION: 75 MINUTES 37 QUESTIONS

• Data sufficiency questions
• Problem Solving questions

3.) VERBAL SECTION: 75 MINUTES 41 QUESTIONS

• Reading Comprehension questions
• Sentence Correction questions
• Critical reasoning questions

The GMAT is conducted all the year round between Mondays to Friday. The GMAT score is from 800 with a separate AWA score on a scale from 1-6. A score of 600 is considered competitive by the top B- schools.
